Dear Friends, Welcome to Gamma Psi Online. As president of this wonderful chapter, I would first like to thank you for visiting our website. As a collegiate chapter on the campus of Tougaloo College (in Jackson, MS), we are diligently striving to better not only our Tougaloo College community, but our Jackson community as well. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated is a public service organization committed to addressing societal concerns and issues in an effort to improve the lives of others, especially those in the African-American community. The sorority had its beginning with the vision of 22 women who founded Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, at Howard University, on January 13, 1913. These visionary young women used their collective strength to promote academic excellence and assist persons in need. In an attempt to continue what the visionary 22 started, the Gamma Psi chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was chartered on February 16, 1948 by 8 courageous women on the campus of Tougaloo College. Gamma Psi was the first greek collegiate chapter in the state of Mississippi as well as the first greek collegiate chapter on the campus of Tougaloo College. In hopes of continuing the legacy that our founders and charter members started, Gamma Psi strives to make a difference in the community. We participate in different community service projects that are geared toward bettering the Tougaloo College community and partner with other greeks on campus to promote greek unity. Feel free to browse our website to see specific community service and campus projects that we are currently participating in. We sincerely hope that our website will keep visitors informed on the pertinent issues concerning our chapter and our Tougaloo College community. Sincerely, Alisia Hankins President
